Probably the most peaceful area of Arran, the villages of Kildonan and Kilmory share some fantastic beaches — either huge sandy bays or interesting rock pools. Kildonan is unusual in that it lies a short distance off the main road overlooking the small island of Pladda. Down south one can spot Ailsa Craig Island, a bird sanctuary with a characteristic form. Quite a number of new holiday houses have been erected in this preferential part during the last few years and more are still built (this stretch will soon have to be renamed into «Mégève d'Arran»).
Both villages have small village stores and post offices. Sliddery is apeaceful Village with a few self-caterings and one hardware and farmers supply shop with an incredible stock. There are many good walks in the area, particularly near the coasts where there are opportunities to watch large colonies of grey seal and a wheelchair accessible route up to a wonderful waterfall built purely by a private family. A craft and woodwork shop is in a rather unusual place high up on a hill over Kilmory. According to rumour and Wikipedia's Travel Site, there is also the only officially designated nudist beach in Scotland at Cleats Shore near Lagg.

Assja B. designs stylish contemporary jewellery. My inspiration are the sea, the shores, the steep hills and shady glens with their abundant flora and fauna. All pieces are unique and can be acquired in my webshop. I also sell my jewellery regularly at the village markets in Kilmory (Southend) and Whiting Bay (market days are listed here on the respective pages). Commissions for necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and bridal jewellery including tiaras are always welcome. I do love to dream up design suggestions based on your wishes.
